Response shooting day narrative

In today's shoot we decided to capture the performance narrative of the music video. This involved all three of our actors who we individually filmed their performance of their verses, which we repeated twice in order to gain more footage. After we filmed the chorus of the song with the three together where they performed in front of the camera. Initially it was rather difficult to for each member to act natural and smoothly and it took multiple attempts before they fell into the rhythm and beat of the music however they found it more natural to perform together than peforming solo. Simon Firth's 3 typologies theory was used here and we wanted to enhance the performance effect by using artificial lighting to help sell the performance impression for the music video. In order to do this we booked the drama hall which had stage lighting and used it to enhance each members presence. Overall it was a preductive shoot and after we have reviewed the footage taken we will either conduct a reshoot.

Response-Rehearsal

In early December we asked our actors to come in so that we could do a dry run of the performance and singing element for our music video. This was done so that we could all familiarise ourselves with the various cinematography as well as getting our actors perform comfortably among each other. This was beneficial as it would allow us to save time when it came to conduct our shoots allowing us to be more productive.

Updated Char profile- Debo

As our group decided to film we all agreed after some consideration that our actors were much better suited for different roles instead and so we decided to switch them around to create a more natural boy band. Vaughn was originally going to play Kendall, he is now playing Logan. He best suits the role of Logan because he is committed performer at making the audience believe the relationship between him and the girl is genuine. Montel was originally going to play Logan, he is now playing IYAZ. Montel suits the role of IYAZ better because he good at rapping, moreover his dress style is more urban and we believe that this fits the IYAZ character better. Lastly, Fran who was originally going to play IYAZ. Fran is quieter therefore we agreed that he would best suit Kendall in the music video.

Music Video Inspiration- Sharmin

The JLS music video inspired us because as a boy band, they had the element of performance which we could use in our music video. Simon Frith stated that music videos are characterised by three typologies. The performance typology is a common type where the group will singing while dancing. We liked the idea of having similar outfits to show the audience that they are in a group, making it easier for the target audience to recognise them. They are constructed by the industry to make out money from the audiences so it is important for audiences to recognise the boy band and sell the video.
